Inauguration of the new EU International Relations and Diplomacy Department

The Inauguration Ceremony of the newly created EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies of the College of Europe took place at the Provincial Palace, Markt, in Bruges on Wednesday 15 November 2006 at 5 p.m. The guest of honour was H.E. Mr Karel De Gucht, Belgian Minister for Foreign Affairs, who addressed the audience on "Shifting EU Foreign Policy into Higher Gear".
The new postgraduate academic programme provides students with specific knowledge of the European Union as an actor in the international environment as well as skills in international negotiations and diplomacy.
