"Meet the Professionals" with Mr Dirk TOORNSTRA

On 8 June 2018, the Natolin Careers Service organized another session of the Meet the Professionals series. This time we had the pleasure to host in Natolin Mr Dirk TOORNSTRA, an experienced governance expert who was involved in parliamentary activities for nearly 40 years as a senior official of the European Parliament.

During that period he exercised many different responsibilities including: heading departments, dealing with general administration, research, communication and EU enlargement. He also served as Secretary General of the European Socialists and Chief of Staff of the President of the European Parliament. Currently he is involved in advisory work on governance issues in the Middle East (i.e. Jordan), the Caucasus (i.e. Georgia) as well as in Africa.

Mr TOORNSTRA shared with Natolin students a very interesting perspective on working within the European Parliament and the balance of power between the European institutions. Finally, he spoke about his personal career path and the decisions or opportunities which influenced it.
