The College of Europe Development Office is proud to share with you its latest newsletter. Throughout the year, the College of Europe continued successfully fulfilling its mission by providing professional training courses as well services for international and EU institutions through its Development Office. These Facts & Figures give a global overview of the main achievements of 2020!
Our 2021 executive training offer is ready, including two new executive courses: "European Defence & Security" and "Communicating the EU". The "European Defence & Security" course will analyse how the EU is boosting its ambitions, efforts and tools to address rapidly evolving security challenges both within the EU and outside its borders. While the "Communicating the EU" course will focus on essential communication skills and know-how for professionals working in an EU environment. This summer, we will be back in person in Bruges with the 28th edition of the ‘Intensive Seminar on the European Union’ training course. In the stimulating atmosphere of the College of Europe, the seminar offers opportunities for discussions and experience-sharing amongst participants from different backgrounds. It reproduces at a smaller scale the ‘esprit du Collège’ and is a source for long-lasting professional contacts. The course will be organised strictly following the applicable health guidelines and recommendations from the Belgian authorities.
The Competition Policy & High-Tech Markets course had some work done! The programme is fully revised, and together with the newly appointed Course Director Viktoria ROBERTSON (Professor of Competition Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business as well as at the University of Graz) the course will be focusing on how antitrust law shapes the EU Digital Single Market. The course will include the most recent developments concerning the Digital Markets Act proposal, data-based mergers and abuses of dominance, algorithmic collusion, antitrust issues regarding standard-essential patents and the platform economy, vertical agreements in the digital age, and competition remedies.
There will be a second virtual edition of the EU Energy Policy course highlighting the different aspects of EU energy governance, the energy transition and the European Green Deal. With sessions on climate diplomacy, carbon pricing, just transition, and sustainable and smart mobility, participants will be able to learn more about developments in and changes to the EU’s energy policy.
The College of Europe is pleased to organise, in the framework of the EU-funded project El-Hiwar II, its second Summer School on Euro-Arab Relations. This year’s edition will focus on people-to-people relations to enhance knowledge of Euro-Arab relations and strengthen communication skills. The five-day summer school will take place from 12 to 16 of July in an online format. The call for applications is open until 25 May 2021, find more information here!
