ALLWOOD G. & GUERRINA R. - Whats Gender Got to Do with It? Analysing the Inclusiveness of EU External Action (25h)

This optional course provides students with a detailed understanding of critical theories, providing them with a detailed and in-depth understanding of critical, decolonial, and intersectional feminist approaches to the EU’s external action. The course will open a space for reflection on the opportunities and constraints for the EU to be a gender actor in external affairs through a range of applied and interactive workshops. The aim is to move beyond surface approaches to gender, e.g. add women and stir, to understand the way gender structures EU institutions and the way they approach policy. The course will also provide students with opportunities to develop key skills, e.g. policy analysis, that will allow them to apply their theoretical knowledge to real life scenarios.
