On 22 March 2024 from 20:00 to 21:30, the Energy and Climate Chair of the College of Europe invites Ms Ceciel Nieuwenhout, Assistant Professor at the Groningen Centre of Energy Law and Sustainability, to discuss the development of the North Sea electricity grid. Her lecture will focus on questions relating to the development of offshore wind, as well as more recently energy islands, and how they fit into the EU's policy and legal framework.

The lecture will take place in the Verversdijk campus (Room of Intercultural Understanding, RIU).

A propos de l'intervenant

The workshop is intended to provide students with an understanding of the reasons why transport and space activities have progressively been regulated at the European level, and will pay attention to the political, economic and legal aspects of the topic. Particular emphasis will be put on the achievement of the internal market in the field of transport. Students will also be introduced to the issues which affect the development of EU transport and space policies such as sustainable development and climate change, research and innovation or security and anti-terrorism.

On 19 March 2024 from 10:00 to 11:45, the Energy and Climate Chair of the College of Europe invites Mr Kristian Ruby, Secretary General of Eurelectric, to discuss Megatrends and the Energy Transition. His lecture will focus in particular on changes in the power system, digitalisation and customers (power, platforms and people).

The lecture will take place in the Verversdijk campus (Room of Intercultural Understanding, RIU).

His interventions will be followed by a Q&A with the public.
